System update did not fail
The hacked WiFi slots may not have been applied, or you may have set up an Internet connection after injecting the hacked WiFi slots. Don't do that.
Redo the BannerBomb3 section and try again.
Go to Section II of Installing boot9strap (USM)
The system update should fail if your wifi slots look like this:
